Combines the cult aspect of Rachel Harrison’s Black Sheep and the strip club setting of Marie Rutkoski’s Real Easy for readers who wish the dancers weren’t harmed
With loans from an unfinished law degree hanging over her head, and a deep desire to help provide for her dancer girlfriend Cass, the last thing strip club bartender Piper Wolff needs is another arrest and a suspension from the Vixens Club. But that’s exactly what happens when she loses her temper one night and breaks a patron’s nose. When a witness to the incident, billionaire Alastair Blake, bails her out of jail, he gives her an offer she can’t refuse: work off the debt she owes him by helping invite women to the lavish parties at his mansion, and he’ll ensure she benefits too.
However, women start disappearing from Alastair’s mansion and are later found dead with their hearts carved out of their chests. Worried and desperate for answers, Piper goes digging only to discover that the parties are a cover for a cult. Men are sacrificing women’s hearts to a demon in exchange for power and wealth, and she’s been supplying them with victims. Meanwhile, Alastair’s obsession with Piper grows stronger, and with every step she takes away from him, his threats become more personal, until finally she’s faced with a choice: join Alastair and his cult in killing other women, or risk Cass becoming their next sacrifice.
